My guys were fully keen to spend most of the day fishing on the flats and with the light gear to catch a variety of fish, that was just after we pulled some lures for the Doggies of cause, we never managed to lure the dog out his kennel but did manage to find a few sky rocketing mackerel… after that we jumped on the flats and the guys had a ball catching heaps of Trout, Red Bass and all the other critters you catch on the reef. Far too many species to remember, all I can say is fishing in the shallows all day you can lose some lures my hands are hurting from tying FG knots all day….
It was a real mixed bag of fishng today and the guys where pleased to get plenty of fish to the boat. From the word get got the action was hot with some really big trout boated and Dan from America who was really into catching different species got a nice pink job fish and his first spanish on popper he was wrapped. We also got two big job fish on one lure which was pretty funny. There where also a few unstoppable monters on the bottom that we could not stop on the octa jigs.A very full days fishing
First thing this morning we wanted to catch a doggie so as we where deploying the lures a 18kg model jumped straight on and played the game for us, mission accomplished !! next the guys where keen to cruise the flats and drop a few octa jigs and plastics for the rest of the day so we cast small poppers and nailed some nice varities of fish including 4 wrasse up to 10kg, finally we pulled off the reef into some brilliant looking bottom and dropped the plasos almost instantly one hook up followed by another with both fish fighting identical up came a 20kg wrasse with 2 jigheads in its mouth greedy bugger !!
Today was going to be the day of the GT! The boys were keen for the last day to be a riper and as the tide turned the fish were on…fishing some great looking edges two boys fished light tackle into the shallows and one guy cast poppers off the edge, what a great session..we had GT’s, Spanish, Shark Mackeral, Gold Spot Trevs, Trout, Cod and Emperor all coming in on heavy and light tackle. I was kept busy chasing GT’s around once hooked and most of the time we had a Mackeral on at the same time.. some of the Mackeral jumps were awesome and kept us laughing all day at their acrobatics. The guys were stoked to have caught a heap of GT’S and a variety of reef species, big or small they loved it all, having fun and just a good time was the perfect attitude to have for the day. A snorkel at the end of the day with a few beers on a sand Cay was the best way to finish a great day… Thanks guys for making the day so effortless.
