Accommodation is twin-share or triple-share aboard the 70ft mothership, and you will rotate between our range of 20ft centre consoles for a unique fishing experience at each location. You can book a Far Northern Explorer trip as either an individual angler, or you can organise your own group and talk to us about customised pricing options for whole boat bookings.
Locations & Species
If you want to visit stunning, remote locations on a shorter trip, the Far Northern Explorer is the trip for you. Because of the remoteness of these locations, they used to be logistically impossible to explore in less than 6 days. But as of 2018, you can now explore these untouched areas in as little as 3.5 or 4.5 days. There simply isn’t another trip in the world that offers these opportunities in such a short timeframe.
With over 5000sq nautical miles of reefs, islands, reef flats, bays, lagoons, and rivers to explore, you can be sure this trip has something for everyone. That means we can carefully plan every trip based on weather, time of year, and general fishing conditions, to make sure you get the very best experience possible.
It also means that you’re always fishing an area that hasn’t been touched by anglers for some time.
This type of rotation is only possible with a mothership style operation, and is just one of many reasons for fishing with Nomad Sportfishing.
As mentioned, the locations we fish are chosen each week by the guides based on weather, previous fishing and time of year. Our objective is to choose the best area to take you on your trip to ensure the best fishing experience for all of the key species we target.
Although we cannot guarantee visiting any particular location (due to weather, seasonality, etc.), Far Norther Explorer trips typically visit any of the following locations:
Boats Used on This Trip
From 2020, Far Northern Explorer trips use our 70ft Mothership and a range of fully guided fishing boats including the 40ft gameboat Black Magic and 2 x 20ft centre consoles. We cater for a maximum of 8 anglers. You’ll rotate between all the boats during your trip to experience everything that each location has to offer.
Far Northern Explorer trips offer you the following fishing options throughout the areas visited:
- GT lurecasting
- Light tackle trolling for a range of pelagics and reef species
- Bluewater trolling and jigging for large pelagic or reef species
- Flats fishing for permit, GTs, goldens and blue bastards
- Remote estuary fishing for barra, fingermark and queenfish
- Light tackle jigging and soft plastic fishing
- Micro jigging and light tackle lurecasting over the reef flats for a huge range of species
- General reef fishing
