NOMAD January 2010 Newsletter - Happy New Year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all our Newsletter Subscribers. We thought we should wait until everyone was back at work before sending this newsletter. We hope everyone enjoyed a good holiday over Christmas, and we're looking forward to seeing many of you on the water in 2010. The video footage shown above is a small extract from the "Ripple Fisher in the Coral Sea" DVD. Diamond Islets December 2009 Trip Report
Diamond Islets in December 2009 saw us spending 2 weeks in the Coral Sea at one of our all time favourite destinations. The fishing was very good for a whole range of species, despite a strange and unseasonal cold current that kept the doggies a little quiet at times. There were still plenty of doggies caught, with a couple topping the 80kg mark. There were GTs on fly off the beach up to 25kgs, some crazy action in the shallow reef lagoons, and some spectacular wahoo captures. We found a few more GTs around the reef edge than last year, and some over 40kgs on poppers! Coral Sea Drive Out trips March 2010
We currently have 5 places available from the 5th-11th March 2010 for the Coral Sea Drive Out trips. The trip format is 6 nights on the mothership with our 2 x 18ft and 2 x 25ft centre consoles, but the trips drive out from Mackay, saving the expense of the floatplane flight. Limited Lagoon Explorer dates remaining for 2010
2010 is looking very busy already. We wanted to give a genuine heads up to all our newsletter subscribers, and let everyone know that if you are in any way interested in a 2010 trip, you need to get in and get your dates locked away as soon as possible. We already have bookings for nearly 80% of available dates for the entire 2010 season. The remaining lagoon explorer dates before June are the 11th-17th April & 29th April-5th May. We have been trialling these lures over the past 6 months on charters, and they have been highly impressive. The lures are seriously strong in the larger full wire series, and the smaller lures are also built tough. The Sebile range of lures features a number of highly innovative features, with the end result being that they catch a LOT of fish. For example, the sebile spalsher 120 was easily the best popper we used at Bligh Reef in 2009, for some reason this little popper on a 50lb rod in the shallows just worked better than anything else on the coral trout, red bass and wrasse.
