We have recently introduced these trips due to demand for a shorter trip option that still provides exceptional fishing. At the times of year when our 36ft gameboat is not being used for Coral Sea Ultimate Adventures trips, we will be using it to operate shorter trips out of Cairns and Lizard Island. The reefs that will be visited on these trips vary depending on time of year and departure point. Most of these trips will target the outer Great Barrier Reef between Innisfail, Cairns, and Port Douglas.
This area of reef is renowned for world class GT fishing, and some of the best heavy tackle marlin fishing in the world.
These shorter trips comfortably cater for up to 4 anglers per trip, but the boat can take as many as 8 anglers if required. These trips are designed for groups of 2-6 anglers. We are able to help put a group together for you as required.
The types of fishing that we are able to offer also depends on where we are fishing, but the styles of fishing available are as follows:-
- GT fishing, and general lurecasting for a variety of reef species
- Trolling for sailfish and smaller black marlin
- Heavy tackle marlin fishing for giant black marlin
- Deepwater jigging for dogtooth tuna is an option depending on weather and location
- General deepwater jigging for reef species including red emperor, coral trout, sweetlip, trevally and many other species is an option
- Light tackle trolling for mackerel, wahoo, tuna, and many other pelagic species is available at most reefs
- Soft plastic and general reef fishing for coral trout, emperor and other reef species is available at all locations.
Other activities include snorkelling on the reef, walking around some of the regions spectacular sand cays, and we may be able to make arrangements for Scuba diving if required.
