Reefs Visited on Coral Sea Lagoon Explorer Trips

A Lagoon Explorer trip will allow you to visit a huge variety of reef environments. The reefs we visit are as follows:-

Bugatti Reefs

The Capricorn Islands

You can click on any of the above reefs for full details of locations, species and time of year, or click on the map at right for full location details. But brief details of the various reefs are as follows.

Bugatti Reefs

You can check out the 2007 Bugatti Reef trip report for more information on this reef. Or click on the reef name above for more info. The area known as Bugatti Reefs is one of the most exciting locations visited by Nomad Sportfishing. It is a maze of reef systems, washed over by huge strong currents, however the maze of reef provides protection from wind and all weather fishability. This area of reef stretches over 90nm in length by around 35nm wide. In 2007 we explored only a fraction of this reef, and it will take many more years to fully explore. You can be amongst the first to ever cast for GTs in this remote area.
The area named Bugatti Reef is not charted, and is not actually even named. We have simply chosen Bugatti Reef as the name for this area. The GT fishing around these reefs is truly amazing, and is unlike anything else we have ever seen. We are not disclosing the location of this area of reef, but trips for Bugatti Reef involve a seaplane trip from Hamilton Island, the rest is a mystery, but the fishing is beyond belief.

The Capricorn Islands

You can also check out the latest trip report from The Capricorn Islands. Or click on the reef name above for more info.

The Capricorn Islands are located off the Central Queensland coast of Australia. Just click on the map above right for a closer look. The area is extremely remote and for most of the year it is a restricted access military training ground. This means that the GTs are really tough!! And that you just can't fish there for most of the year. We've found that accessing the area between February - April each year is possible, and the fishing for a huge range of sportfish is absolutley spectacular.
