Reefs Visited on Coral Sea Ultimate Adventures

An Ultimate Adcventures trip will allow you to visit a huge variety of reef environments. The reefs we visit are as follows:-

Marion Reef

Flinders Reef

Diamond Islets

Jewell Reef
Bligh Reef
Elusive Reef
Frederick Reef

You can click on any of the above reefs for full details of locations, species and time of year. But brief details of the various reefs are as follows:-

Kenn Reef
Kenn Reef is located some 300 nautical miles from mainland Australia, and is the most remote reef we currently visit. We can only take 10 anglers per week to visit this location, making these trips our most exclusive fishing option. Kenn Reef also has the best anchorage out of any Coral Sea Reef, and also has the largest variety of species available at the time of year we generally visit(Usually between August-October).

Marion Reef
This is the largest reef we visit, measuring some 26 nautical miles from top to bottom, and some 17 nautical miles wide. It is located around 210 nautical miles ENE of Mackay on the Central QLD coast. It is a large circular lagoon, providing an excellent anchorage and a huge variety of fishing options. Marion Reef has excellent fishing for dogtooth tuna, GTs and coral trout. The scuba diving at Marion Reef is also sensational.

Holmes/Flinders Reefs
Located some 200nautical miles from Townsville, these reefs are home to giant black marlin during November and December each year. As well as this they offer excellent fishing for big dogtooth tuna and Giant Trevally. For anyone who wants to mix some giant black marlin fishing with some amazing coral sea sportfishing action these reefs are a must visit.

Wreck Reef
Located 260 nautical miles from Hervey Bay, this reef is home to one of the most amazing bites of wahoo to be found anywhere in the world. In addition to excellent fishing for big GTs, dogtooth tuna, yellowfin tuna and sailfish, Wreck Reef is where the BIG wahoo come to congregate each year in August. In 2006, we caught and released over 250 wahoo in 3 days, from over 1000 bites. All the fish ranged from 60-100lbs, and this was one of the most amazing bites we have ever witnessed. We cater for a maximum of 10 anglers at Wreck reef due to distance from the coast.

Diamond Islets
Located around 270 nautical miles NE of Mackay, this is one of the most amazing reef systems imaginable. A beautiful anchorage awaits at Turtle Cay, and the fishing for dogtooth tuna, GTs and marlin is simply superb. However, it is the exceptional dogtooth tuna fishing that makes this place truly special, and the number and size of fish at these reefs is amazing. The surrounding sand cays and associated reef systems are also home to breeding turtle when we visit in December each year.

Jewell/Bligh Reef
The latest in our line up of Coral Sea Ultimate Adventures, this reef has one of the most diverse ranges of species available anywhere. There are a massive number of smaller GT's in the 15-20kg range at this reef, with a few 50kg models thrown in. The fishing for giant black marlin is incredible, and the general sportfisahing opportunities are absolutley amazing. This is the only reef we visit where you can catch every one of our target species in one location at one time. Spanish mackerel, coral trout, red bass, maori wrasse, dogtooth tuna, yellowfin tuna, black marlin, sailfish and of course GT's are available in abundance.
