There's not much more we can really tell you about Lizard Island's marlin fishing, other than that it has been proven over the past 40 years through the IGFA records as the single best place on earth to catch a 1000lb plus black marlin. When you do a marlin trip to Lizard Island, you'll be fishing the reefs around Lizard Island, such as Jewell Reef, Hicks Reef, Day Reef and the famous Ribbon Reefs. Lizard Island is often just the pick up and drop off point for these amazing trips, as we'll actually stay out on the reef most of the time when weather permits.
The reason you need to let us take you to experience Lizard Island is because the use of our mothership and 36ft gameboats allows us to follow the marlin up and down the Ribbon Reefs and Jewell Reef complex, and allows us to stay on the outer Ribbon Reefs in comfort, only minutes from the fishing grounds. The combination of our 36ft gameboats and 80ft mothership simply means you'll catch more marlin, and be much more comfortable than by using a single 40-60ft gameboat as a liveaboard. The areas around Jewell Reef, to the north of Lizard Island offer some amazing fishing, and are simply inaccessible to smaller liveaboard vessels.
The combination of our mothership and 2 x 36ft gameboats allows us to cater for 2 groups of 4 anglers on each of the gameboats. You will spend the day fishing in comfort aboard one of our 2 gameboats, and return in the evening to our luxurious mothership where our Chef and hostess will provide top quality food and beverages.
We only fish Lizard Island during October, as this is the prime time for targetting the marlin at this location. During November we follow the big Marlin out into the Coral Sea to Flinders and Holmes Reefs as part of our Coral Sea Ultimate Adventure trips.
Our package dates cater for 5 full days marlin fishing around Lizard Island, but if you would like to book a shorter or longer trip, please let us know. Dates for 2009 are as follows:-
9th-15th October
15th-21st October
