Ed Lester Joined Nomad Sportfishing in late 2004 after completing one of our deckhand training courses. Ed had already had a vast array of experiences in the marine industry before joing us, having been a professional longline fisherman and a commercial seaweed diver in Tasmania, all by the age of 18.
In the 3 years that Ed has been at Nomad Sportfishing he has completed his coxswain ticket and has recently gained his master 5 qualification. Ed is a mad keen fisherman who is keen to guide, deckie or skipper for any type of fishing, but he has a passion for chasing big marlin and GTs.
Ed has a strong connection to the vessel Odyssey, having spent many weeks during the build process on the hand sander preparing the hull. He's been on Odyssey since day 1 and knows the boat intimately.
Ed has guided for some incredible captures in the Coral sea, including guiding many clients to their first 100lb GTs on numerous occasions. He has gained a wealth of knowledge about the areas we fish, and sportfishing in general that will assure you a memorable experience on the water with Ed.
You can find Ed deckying on the 36ft blackwatch during the Ultimate Adventure trips, skipperring the 36ft blackwatch during the Fraser Island trips from January-April, or skipperring one of our centre consoles during the Lagoon Explorer Trips.
