New Zealand Kingfish Trip Report August 2011
By Ben Pokaia, Nomad Sportfishing: NZ Kingfish pageยป

I have just had the pleasure of guiding Matt Watson from the ITM fishing show here in Tauranga filming about targeting Kingfish on top water lures, with flat seas and sunny weather we were off to a good start. Again the fishing started slow but with the anglers casting 360 degrees of the boat we had packs of Kingys following lures to the boat where they would hang around long enough that we could get two or three lures to them resulting in multiple hook ups and having the fish hook up only meters from the boat it made for very good visual fishing, the average fish being around the 22kg mark with a few fish pushing late 20's so I am looking forward to seeing the footage and the finished show it will be one not to missed. With the top water season being a little late this year things will start to ramp up from here and the fishing in good shape things are looking very good in the coming months.

Regards
